Customer Rating: Summary: Terrific First Software Program For Kids!! Comment: I purchased this software for my niece who is 3 years old. She has never gotten on a computer before trying this software. I am a school teacher and very much into technology. It disappointed me that my niece had no idea of how to use a computer. This is probably because my brother and sister-in-law have zero technological skills aside from using Microsoft Word. So, I reasearched and found this baby and toddler software. I cannot say enough great things about it! I sat with my niece for 10 minutes, showed her how to move the "hand" (instead of the usual mouse arrow) around the pictures and games; off she went on her own selecting what she wanted to play. She soon told me that she didn't need my help anymore and that she could do it herself. The first time she used this software she sat at the kitchen table on my laptop for 1 1/2 hours. She was so excited about what she was doing and that she was doing it on her own. She continues to ask me if she can play the computer. She loves it! This game does not require your child to use a mouse to click on any items, they only need to move and place the "hand" on the item they are selecting. Once they place a the hand on an item a star appears. If they keep the hand/star on the item 5 dots slowly appear in each corner of the star. When all 5 dots appear the page then changes to whatever the child choose to play. It is that simple. My operating system is Vista and the program works fine. I would definitely purchase this item if you want your child to begin learning how to use a computer and get the hang of manipulating a mouse.
Customer Rating: Summary: be careful! not for apple leopard os Comment: while I am very familiar w/Reader Rabbit- an excellent first video this product was not able to play on our Apple Leopard OS- the pkging says compatible with MacIntosh but it could not be downloaded- a more explicit description would have saved me this problem- very disappointed
Customer Rating: Summary: Excellent for toddlers Comment: I bought this software for my 18 month old daughter... It took her a little while to figure out the mouse, but she was never bored while she learned. She is now just over 2 and has mastered all the games on both the Baby and Toddler segments.. She still loves Mattie and Reader Rabbit. I also bought 2 of the baby and toddler Sesame Street tiles... They are not as easy to learn since they require the child to use either the mouse OR the keybord, no game uses both, and these games bore her. I highly recommend this Reader Rabbit title for your child age 1 - 3. I'm off to order the preschool title! I'll let you know what we think!
Customer Rating: Summary: Great game for toddlers! Comment: My 2 year old loves this game! The best thing about the game is that the child can play by either touching keys on the keyboard, moving the mouse over items in the game, or using the mouse to click. Great to grow with a child as his/her computer skills grow. Fun and exciting variety of games that include lots of skill areas. Excellent game for toddlers!
Customer Rating: Summary: My daughter likes this game Comment: My daughter really likes this game as it has lots of sounds and colors. It was a little bit simple for her though as she finished all the activities in one day. She still likes to play it though. I did not have any problems installing it on our computer. So I gave it 4 stars. A game that was a little more challenging yet ok for a preschooler was a game called School Zome Flash Action Colors, shapes and more. That game made my daughter "think" a little bit more than reader rabbit did. It's still an ok game.
